There is no charge to the individual for using the services of a licensed health insurance agent—the commission is entirely paid by the carrier. The carrier is prohibited from selling the policy any cheaper if an individual does not use an agent.

The annual Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D Prescription plan open enrollment has changed for 2011.  It is from 10-15-2011 until 12-07-2011.   During this period anyone on Medicare whether over age 65 Medicare or under age 65 disability Medicare can sign up for a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Prescription plan.   This is truly an open enrollment period where you have freedom make changes.  In this period you do not need a reason, you just can change because you want to. During this time, AEP, Medicare beneficiaries may change prescription drug plans, change Medicare Advantage plans, return to original Medicare, or enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan for the first time.  Enrollment changes take effect on January 1.

News for people on underage Medicare disability.  

Starting October 1, 2009 Insurance Companies offering Medicare Supplement Plans in Florida must also offer the Medicare supplements to people on Medicare due to disability.   There is a limited open enrollment period.  Please contact me immediately for information on underage Medicare supplements so you can decide if that is best for you.  Please click on the button below to receive information on underage Medicare Supplement plans.

Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)

While Original Medicare covers many health care costs and services, it does not cover things like coinsurance, copayments, and deductibles. These costs are considered "gaps" in your Medicare coverage, because you typically have to pay for them yourself.

To help you cover these gaps, you may consider purchasing a Medigap insurance policy.

Available through private insurance companies, Medigap policies can help you pay some of these out-of-pocket health care costs. Many policies also cover additional benefits and services not covered by Original Medicare.

Insurance companies are only allowed to sell you one Medigap policy. Currently, there are different standardized plans, referred to as "A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F", "F+", "G", "H", "I", "J", "K", and "L" (MA, MN, WI have variation plans).

Because the policies are standardized, the benefits for a particular plan are the same for each company within a state. The primary difference will be the cost, but factors like underwriting and rating methodology can also vary from insurance company to insurance company.

MIPPA Medicare Supplement Information

Medicare supplement insurance can be sold in only ten standard plans. This chart shows the benefits included in each plan. Every company must make available Plan "A".
Medicare Select Plans C Select and F Select contain the same benefits as standardized Medicare Supplement Plans C and F, except for restrictions on your use of hospitals.
Basic Benefits: Included in all plans        
Hospitalization: Part A Coinsurance plus coverage for 365 additional days after Medicare benefits end
Medical Expenses: Part B coinsurance (20% of Medicare-approved expenses)  
Blood: First three pints of blood each year
