Vision Care Coverage
A health care plan usually offered only on a group basis which covers routine
eye examinations, and which may cover all or part of the cost of eyeglasses and
lenses.
Waiting Period
The time that a person must wait from the date of acceptance into an eligible
class (or from application) to the date the insurance becomes effective. While
similar to elimination periods, waiting periods are often paid retroactively.
Waiver (Exclusion
Endorsement)
An agreement, attached to the policy and accepted by the insured, to eliminate a
specified pre-existing physical condition or specified hazard.
Waiver of Premium
Provision that, under certain conditions, insurance will be kept in full force
without further payment of premiums. It is used most often in cases of permanent
and total disability.
Well-Baby
Preventative health services, including immunizations, provided by the member's
participating medical group up to a specific age specified by the carrier. This
benefit is typically provided in HMO plans and/or POS plans. The level of
benefit will vary for PPO plans if specified as a benefit.
